Location of Herne Bay

Herne Bay is located on the south east coast of Kent.
Travelling to Herne Bay is easy. The towns locations and excellent road and rail links to Thanet, London and the Medway towns means they are perfect for a weekend break or for longer visits - why not use Herne Bay as a base for touring Kent or further afield.
On Foot
Once you have arrived in Herne Bay, it's easy to get around - the town is small and is best explored on foot. Guided walks of the town are offered by Mr. D. Birch (telephone 01227 362 666), by prior arrangement only.
By Car
There are car parks throughout Herne Bay (consult the Canterbury City Council Parking Information pages. Short-stay car parks allow a maximum of 5 hours parking. For more than 5 hours, use one of the long-stay car parks. For up to date traffic reports: RAC Information Page.
Public Transport
Kent County Council operate a helpful general public transport enquiry service: telephone: 08706 082 608.
By Bus
Stagecoach East Kent buses run between Herne Bay, Canterbury and the neighbouring towns and villages on a regular basis throughout the day and early evening. For timetable enquiries, tel: 08702 433 711. Buses 606 and 607 travel at regular intervals between Canterbury Bus Station and Herne Bay town centre. Standard single fare is around £1.80.
By Train
Southeastern (Govia) operate direct rail services London Victoria to Herne Bay station. For national rail enquiries, tel: 08457 484 950, or better see the Railtrack Timetables.
By Coach
National Express coaches run to Herne Bay from London Victoria Coach Station. For all enquiries, tel: 0990 808 080. National Express Timetable Information
For visitors arriving in Herne Bay as a coach party, coach passengers can be dropped off at the seafront on Central Parade and coach parking is available at William Street car and coach park.
